It looks like the Australian Motorcycle Competition Association (AMCA) could be the key to saving motorcycle riding and racing in Australia, especially after the struggles of the past couple of years due to insurance issues. As many in the scene know, motorcycle events have been hanging by a thread, with insurance challenges putting them on the verge of collapse.

Now, thanks to Greg and Denise Peterson—owners of Enduro Gear and organizers of the Australian Hard Enduro Championship—a new insurance solution has emerged. This insurance, known as AMCA, aims to address some of the overly strict rules imposed by traditional insurer of Motorcycling Australia (MA). If successful, AMCA could help bring back the true spirit of racing—where spectators are up close, cheering on riders, and there’s less red tape and more focus on the excitement of the race.

One of the main perks of AMCA’s approach is it aims to cut down on excessive paperwork and lengthy safety briefings, which have made racing feel more like a bureaucratic process than an adrenaline-fueled sport. If AMCA can strike a balance between safety and a more relaxed, thrilling racing atmosphere, it could be exactly what the sport needs to regain its energy and momentum.

This could be the boost Australian motorcycle racing desperately needs—returning to its roots with a focus on the race, not the regulations process.
